Project Prison - Mahatma Gandhi Community College


Mahatma Gandhi Community College has been function since 2011 and managed by the Department of Prisons, Government of Tamilnadu in all the 9 Central and 2 Special Prison for Women. ICRDCE has been entrusted with the responsibility to administer and monitor the entire scheme in collaboration with local Community Colleges. It is recognized by Tamilnadu Open University (TNOU). So far we have trained 1210 prison inmates for last four batchers.




In the First batch 185 appeared for Examinations 175 passed with the result of 95% of which 71 students got distinction and 104 students got first class. 15 of them received gold medals, second and third rank in their respective subjects.
In the Second batch 220 appeared for examinations 218 passed with the result of 99.09%
In the Third Batch 253 appeared for examination of which 230 passed with result of 90.91%. Two of them received gold medals and Three of them received third rank in their respective subjects.  
In the Fourth Batch 159 appeared for examination of which 139 passed with result of 87.42%. One of them received gold medals and two of them received second and third rank in their respective subject.
In the Fifth BatchWe are Conducting programmers at Chennai, Cuddalore and Coimbatore Men Prisons. 100 Students admitted, 85 students applied and 85 students appeared from examination of which 81 students passed with their examination with results of 95%. One of them received gold medals and two of them received second and third rank in their respective subject.
In the Sixth Batch, 72 students applied and 65 students appeared from examination of which 62 students passed with their examination with results of 95%. One of them received third rank in his subject (Vocational Diploma in Beautician).
